Your scar revision recovery process will differ greatly depending on the type of procedure you've had performed. Some non-invasive procedures require minimal to no recuperation time or maintenance after your revision session. However, assuming you have reconstructive surgery, you should expect the following after the
surgical procedure:

The First Few Days after the Procedure Most scar revision procedures are outpatient procedures, so even if you were put under general anesthesia, you should expect to be able to return home within an hour or two. (Be sure to arrange for someone to drive you.) Depending on the extent of your surgery, your cosmetic surgeon may ask you to stay home from work and refrain from vigorous activity for a period between two days and one week.

Swelling, redness and bruising are common the first few days after the procedure. You should be following your vitamin regimen in order to promote healing--Vitamins A, C and E are typically surgeon-recommended--and taking your antibiotics as directed in order to prevent infection. You may also be given pain medication.

The Following Few Weeks You can expect to have any stitches you may have as a result of your scar revision surgery removed by your cosmetic surgeon after four to seven days. You may be able to return to most activities, but you could be advised to refrain from activities that involve friction against the worked-on area for a few weeks after the procedure. Avoid excessive sun exposure and make sure that your skin is always covered with sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher when you do go outdoors.

If the scar tissue was over a part of the body that flexes, you may need a small amount of physical therapy in order to get the tissue back to comfortable flexibility.

Long Term Recovery You should be able to return to all normal activity within a few months. However, be aware that skin tissue takes time to recover. You may not see ideal results until almost a year after your surgery
